I've a bit of a problem when trying to 'play' off line.......
from the rFactor Launcher >
Click on 'Single Player'
RF2 opens >
Click on 'RACE'
Track loads >
I get to the screen showing the in car view in the garage + players + Garage Settings, Standings, RACE, etc
Then, after about 5 seconds I get....... "rFactor has stopped working " "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
Click 'Close Program' and I go back to the rFactor Launcher.
Any ideas please?

Try a different car and track to see if it’s related to these. So try the MX5 at Knockhill. If they work then it’s either the track or the cars in the current mod.
Are you using the current endurance mod at Silverstone?

I've tried swapping cars and tracks to no avail. It's been a bit iffy for a couple of weeks but after trying and keep trying it would eventually 'be OK' but now it just won't load.
How was the skiing?

Have you tried to verify the game files? Right click on the game in Steam to get the properties. Find the Local Files tab and verify them.

I had a similar problem but the error windows reported was different.
I did the verifying of files in steam and IIRC it had one file that it needed to sort but it kept failing so I followed the following from the S397 forum.
Keep a copy of the files as you may need to replace them with the originals if it doesn’t improve things so if you move each of the files into a new folder rather than delete them
Please remove the following files: Config_DX11.ini (...rFactor2\UserData) Player.JSON (...rFactor2\UserData\Player) Multiplayer.JSON (...rFactor2\UserData\Player) Controller.ini (...rFactor2\UserData\Player)
Once you have removed the files from your install, try launching rFactor 2 again and it will recreate these files as default. If it works you’ll need to sort out all your settings buttons in game etc

Thanks, the "verify the game files" worked although it did state, "1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired" , but all seems ok.

Right lads, I've now got the same problem back again. I've done the verification thing that workked previously but not now and I've also done what you suggested Simon (what a faff re assigning stuff) and that hasn't worked.......anyone any ideas/suggestions please.
Before I did the Simon bit I had a HUD in the bottom right of the screen illustrating tyre wear, damage etc, how do I get that back please?

Is it just single player and can you still get on the server John? Thinking about tonight. Edited to say: obviously the only advice I can give you on the crashing thing is, "pull the plug out and put it back in"

Server is OK it's just single player. Tony, I've unplugged numerous times and even repainted it, banged it on the side but to no avail

It’s mapped to a buttons. In game go to controls I think and the list of buttons for each function are their . I think it one of the LCD options.
I’m an hour away from home so this is all by memory so my nit be quite spot on.

I've still got the 'crashing' issue. the 397 forum suggests two things....... Update directx drivers; how do I do this? (I'm currently running 12) Uninstall rFactor2 and reinstall, how do I do this? Thanks
