Well, it works... There are a few issues with the Mobo, so I will be changing it. This was an Amazon Warehouse purchase, as it was like new, but available quicker.
They lied....

I need to replace my mobo, so may as well replace the CPU whilst I am at it. I am thinking of the Asus Prime Z390-P as I don’t want RGB, with an i7-9700KF. The i9-9900KF would be nice, but I can’t justify the extra cost. I am going intel so I don’t need to replace my CPU water block. Later, I will have to look at upgrading my graphics, but I don’t want to spend the cash on that just yet. I have just bought an Asus Maximus VIII Ranger to see if my i7-6700k still works. It was cheaper than the Z170-Pro and Pro Gaming. If it works, I will either upgrade my HTPC, or upgrade the father in laws PC.

Turns out it is actually a Maximus VIII Hero. My delidded i7-6700k still works. A good result.
If anybody wants to borrow the Der8auer delidding tool, let me know, as I intend to sell it on eBay soon. It is a seriously over engineered tool, that makes taking the IHS off the CPU very easy. I did not use liquid metal on my CPU, due to the conductive nature of the material, I thought it was a bit risky.
