It's this years Indy race! Yes, all you oval lovers, it's Indy time. It's rolling start time. It's all those other weird rules. Fortunately we are again only running 200 miles, as some of you just can't get around 4 turns for more than that. This years cars are the 2019 Indycar: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1752852905Car Filter: Indy500 IC18_06_INDY500 & IC19_06_INDY500 Track: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=917386941Distance: 80 Laps Race Start Time: 21:00 BST We will not be running any AI. It's oval racing. Qualifying rules: - Single car timed laps (no drafting)
- Listen out for your call to go on track from the race admin
- 6 allotted laps (Out lap - 4 timed laps - In lap)
- Drop to apron after completing run at turn 1 to avoid interference with the next driver
Race rules: - Enter the track after turn 2
- Pit entry can be after turn 4
- Do not try and go 3 wide in a corner
- You must use a spotter. If you haven't installed Crew Chief, now is your chance
- Stock car rules enabled
Server will be up over the weekend. Please post in this thread if you want to reserve a skin \ car: - #5 James Hinchcliffe - Si White
- #32 Kyle Kaiser - Jif
- #39 Pippa Mann - Wrighty
- #98 Marco Andretti (Indy 500 tribute) - John7

Good fun last night. The biggest problem I had was I picked up some aero damage early, so I was lacking a bit of top speed.

If we do this again next year, will people want more laps? More laps means more fuel strategy.
Or same amount of laps but with Wrighty friendly AI?
Or same amount of laps but with the "Random Yellow" option selected on the server? It's to simulate weird stuff happening and we get a random safety car period.
Or all or some of the above?

A few more laps to force more than one pit stop would be good, as would a random yellow. Not sure about AI. I would have to try it first.

Or same amount of laps but with Wrighty friendly AI? Wrighty doesn't need any friendly AI when you've got me spinning all over the shop.. Sorry Tony. ( I was just thinking of you, I know you're not keen on ovals.. ) Here's an idea how about cushioned walls.

I'd be up for more laps, enjoyed it. Was happy with pace, lost rythm at first stop and did about 10 laps at about 2-3 secs a lap slower. then got back in the grove, was lapping about a second a lap quicker than second, until I saw the race was 83 laps long and I didn't have the fuel. With hindsight, should have kepy it buried then tried to do a pit for a splash, could have been close, not sure what stop time was, but was about 30s up when I had to slow way down. Like crew chief, will leave him on I think.
