For no apparent reason, I have lost my network connection.
When my PC starts up ot looks OK, but then about a minute later, windows decides that the network it was connected to is now unidentified and blocks internet access.
What a POS system.

These would be my steps.
Step 1: Find updated drivers. Download and save to PC (via WiFi) Step 2: Clean old drivers off system. Open Device Manager Uninstall Device Make sure you check to remove the drivers when prompted Step 3: Remove any unused hidden devices. Only remove network adapters that are hidden. If you want then you can go through USB devices too. Open Admin CMD prompt Type set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 Type devmgmt.msc Select Show Hidden Devices Step 4: Turn off PC Step 5: Reboot router Step 6: Turn on PC Step 7: Install network adapter from new drivers in Step 1
Other possibilities are hardware issues here. Is it a direct cable from router to PC? Can you change the cable? If not what hardware in the way could now be faulty? Is it an ISP router and how often does it get rebooted? (Mine gets rebooted daily as it's a crappy ISP provided router)

Thanks Si. Changed the cables. Rebooted the router. Swapped the network switch. Tried a new driver.
I will try the cmd prompts when Ibget home.

Thanks Si. I have ordered a USB C version, as I am sure that my USB C port is free. I am not sure how many others are left.

It seems like the Network switch was to blame. A POS Netgear GS308. I say that, as this is the second time it has happened.

So what is a decent 8 port network switch? Should I get a managed or unmanaged switch?
My basic Netgear GS308 does not work. I put my TP-Link TL-SG1005D back in, and my issues went away.

I have a Netgear GS105. It's like the 4 port version. Maybe you just have a faulty one?
Edit: And to be a bit more helpful. I'd try Linksys if you don't want Netgear. Unmanaged is fine.

That is two faulty GS308 units in a row. I have raised a case with Netgear, telling them I don't want a third one. Sure, it is connected with a 15m Cat 7 cable, but that should be fine.

I sent my Netgear GS308V3 back to Amazon, as they accepted the return of it. I have replaced it with a TP-Link TL-SG108E, plugged it in, and it works straight away.
Avoid the Netgear GS308V3 would be my advice...
