From S397 Forum:Minimum Recommended Server Specs for rFactor 2Check the thread to work out min RAM and CPU Operating System:Should be 64 bit as rF2 will be 64bit only soon. Windows 10 64bit is sufficient. CPU:On top of the S397 requirements Make sure your CPU can handle 64 bit instructions. Most do, but older processors may not. TDP - Check the server TDP. If you are leaving this on 24/7 then a lower TDP will cost you less in electricity. Hint: This is why we run laptops as servers as they generally use less power. RAM:On top of the S397 requirements I'd always make sure a minimum of 8GB for Win 10. Drives:If you can get it on a SSD it'll really help. We used to run a server on a standard HDD and we had slow performance. Look for the NAS versions of drives. If the server is on 24/7 then a NAS based drive will have better performance for being left on all the time. e.g. Seagate NAS SSD drivesNetwork Speed:The server will run rF2 \ Log Analyzer web page \ Weather tool. Check the S397 min specs and then add a bit more. It's all about the upload on your internet. Now all that's up there. Feel free to discuss eBay finds etc. The main risk on buying an eBay 2nd hand laptop \ server is spares. If an irreplaceable part goes, then you'll be back at square one.

Ok guys I’m sure most of you will have seen the chat on discord. It I thought I’d try and get a new server on the go. Most of the time no one else is using my internet so would have nobody using bandwidth. Virgin Media have just got 1gig in my area and I’ve been tempted to splash out. If I was running a server it would make it more worthwhile.
So just after some ideas on a micro server. Any experiences with them and what specs to look for so there are no issues.

I did spec up a mini PC last year, that would be a low power CPU. It would have an OS SSD and space for a couple of large standard HDDs that could run mirrored to store my films on. Then at least it would be for more than one purpose. Last year it came out around £580, but the 2 x 2TB drives added a bit. Without that it was around £380 to £400.
