I recently had temperatures creeping up on my media server. It is fitted with a delidded i7-6700k, with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste. I have changed the paste to Artic MX-6, and my peak temperature has dropped by 16 degrees C under normal use. I am impressed, as I replaced the kryonaut about a month ago. The MX-6 is cheaper, and seems to do a better job.
The i7-6700k has a Zalman FX70 fitted (large, passive air cooler) with a Scythe 120mm fan running at a low RPM. Fan curve remains untouched between the paste changes. Of course, there is always a variable with paste application, but the figures are promising. The average temp has also dropped, but only by a couple of degrees.
So, if you are looking for some new thermal paste, the MX-6 is well worth looking at, in my opinion.
