and I thought Microsoft was going to let this sim die....
Save your money now for whatever hardware is needed to run this (and the inevitable DLC content that comes after). Considering I tried, this year, the current version on my PC and I struggled to get the controls working (and it looked terrible without a load of paid DLC), then this will be a welcome addition for sim fans. Probably a stupid price at release, because they know it'll get bought.
I wonder if it'll be VR too?

For someone who works with Microsoft Azure, here's some info on how this is being used in the new MS Flight Sim. This really is amazing stuff here. Even if you never buy it, it's impressive stuff.

It sounds wonderful and may be my next once-per-decade dip into flight sims.

I've lashed out on a secondhand HOTAS mainly to have another go at Elite but I'm ready for flight sims too.

Tried out the HOTAS yesterday and ran into the problem that I have to find a set of bindings, then play the game for half an hour on a monitor (so I can read the bindings) to find they don't suit me, then find another set, rinse and repeat. Once I do find a set (or more likely create my own) then I'll have to play on a monitor for a few hours to learn the bindings before I can finally switch back to playing in VR (in which Elite is awesome in case you didn't know). Seems like a lot of work and I'm lazy when it comes to games (and software in general). At the moment still learning to throttle with one hand while steering with the other, something I didn't think would be a problem as I play guitar (very ineptly). The newly-added tutorials are great for getting back into the game though, in particular the prompts which tell you which buttons to use with your current bindings. Or maybe I should use Voice Attack which I downloaded ages ago but never tried. The answer is KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid. The standard bindings with a handful of tweaks works pretty well in VR, better than I remember when using the touch controllers.
