well I have got AC running in Vr, what a nightmare!!!! lol. first no controls at all then everything was backwards.
But the real stress "how different Driving VR is to the Big screen I'm used too...Laps times now timed with a calender!!!!
I know I'll improve but crikey what a step up!!!
got to admit the experience is better in VR and so I am very happy I have gone that route, did anyone else have the same probs going from screen to vr or is it just me

TBH - I did get AC working. Then there were some SteamVR updates. Then it was broken and I haven't gone back to working it out. I do need to get it fixed as when it was working it was really awesome. rFactor2 has been easier to get going and I'm really pleased with VR.
Laptimes should improve as you can look to the apex easier. Racing closer is easier too. I now no longer leave huge gaps worrying about hitting people.

No problems for me, and i'm sure that I got quicker making the switch to VR. Just feels more 'normal' and visibility is so much better.

I prefer AC to rF2 as everything seems better in VR. I also have more problems with rF2 as I sometimes get slight stuttering that never seems to appear in AC . I’m with Tricky and think I’m a little quicker in VR than I was with triple screens

Don't get me wrong, I'm never going to be quick, but I think I moved up to competitive midfield.

I got this working last night in VR, as I want to learn the Ring before I book a trip there (2021 or 2022). It looks nice, but out the box the FFB is shite, it feels very unrealistic off centre and seems to change the steering weight at random times. Has anyone else found the same?

My FF is as good in AC, as it is in rF2 . I use the same wheel settings but normally have to knock the force feedback down to about 60% in game, otherwise it’s too strong. Oh! Forgot to say Andrew, you might come back with a slightly flattened rear tow hoop after you have bounced around the carousel a few times . Definitely a bucket list tick though

Hmm ok, I'll have to do some research in to what other SC2 users are doing with the settings. Definitely want to do it even if the place absolutely terrifies me

Ask Andy, obviously he has the same wheel and also drives AC a lot Biggest difficulty with the ring are the unsighted turns (lots of them ) as you seem to be constantly going up or down and either way is normally followed by a fast bend. Obviously driving the sim can’t replicate the same feeling so it becomes difficult to come to terms with the required speed for a quick lap. Obviously the more laps the better, so having big pockets is a bonus Oh! Forgot, you also have to Be careful, as there could be a bus just around the corner

Biggest difficulty with the 'Ring are the other drivers. I've been there twice but would only go back on a (v. expensive) track day. The first time we hardly got on track because they had to keep closing it to pick up crashed bikers. Bikes had an insane closing speed on the straights (ever had someone overtake you going 70 MPH faster?) but held us up in the corners. The second time I went I saw a Porsche GT3 RS destroyed because he came over a brow to find two cars had stopped on the track to pick up a biker who had dropped it, he must have swerved to miss them and smashed bits off his car on the barriers on both sides of the track. Earlier I saw a small Audi lose the rear and spin into the barrier at Adenauer Forst, the look on the front seat passenger's face was priceless - in those couple of seconds I surmised that it was their mum's car and his brother was in big trouble!
I remember reading a tale from a Brit who went there and had a crash. He didn't say exactly how much it cost him but it was clear it was several tens of thousands. It wasn't just the damage to his car, it was the charges for the damage and closure of the track.

If you are happy with the cost rF2 have a laser scanner version of the track that means you don’t have to mess with the wheel settings.
I’ve always had issues with AC FFB that I can’t quite sort

Cheers all. The rF2 track may be a better solution unless Andy has some magic settings I can use I would love to do the ring just to tick it off the list. Whether I take the Caterham though is up for debate.

No majic settings I'm afraid. .... I bought the rf2 version of the ring .... ffb so much better. Ac is ok but the best sim for ffb is rf2 , can even sit on the start line in rf2 move wheel left and right and feel tire tread moving .
