A little poll to see what people think about restarts.

Where's the option for no restarts? How do you determine a major incident? To me it's 2 options first; restarts or no restarts.

Leaving it broad deliberately. Major incident could be half the field wipe out due to a big game freeze etc.

I'm sticking with my no restarts unless major. But am I right in assuming that is not limited. i.e 4 or 5 out at T1 race 1 restart, same result at restart is another restart.
I'm hoping that the, what is in affect, no restarts will calm down a few banzai moves, and we'll all have more fun.
Once again, and this can't be said enough, thanks to the admins, you have a thankless task...........until now
THANK YOU!!!
You're doing a great job.

I think as stated on Discord, a Major Incident is defined as the server going down. So I have locked the poll.
If no restarts does not work, we will revisit the subject.

Having been away for a couple of years I have noticed a couple of things on my return:
- In the MSR days contact of any sort was pretty much frowned upon and driving standards were more self regulating. Mind you, talking and pretty much everything else was also banned! - If you caused an accident, you used to wait until all the people you had affected passed. Is this still the case? - The 2nd (reverse grid) race puts the less capable drivers like me at the front and the much faster drivers all trying to get past as quick as they can approaching from behind. In the past, this usually took a couple of laps. Now it all seems to happen before the second corner! - As I usually finish near the back of the field, getting punted off on the first lap has little effect on my race result. However if a no restart rule is applied I anticipate it will make the faster drivers coming through from the back in race 2 think more carefully before risking a pile up on the first lap. - Although I always try to move out of the way for faster drivers if being lapped, I think it's up to the faster drivers to pick a safe overtaking place when coming past. This was well represented by Wrighty last night when he waited until it was safe to pass me even though it meant loosing his fight for the lead on the final lap. A true gentleman! And we both finished:-) - If a faster driver has crashed and is catching up with the field again or I have started in front on the grid, I will normally hold my racing line and expect the faster driver to pass without contact. I justify this because they are usually 5 seconds a lap quicker than me and we are both racing for position. - Conversely I managed to tap Jiff on the main straight whilst slip streaming him last night (sorry Jiff!) mainly because I just don't get to experience overtaking other drivers that often! and it was a pure accident :-)
So in summary, I think a no restart rule will improve driving standards, especially in the second race where the majority if first lap incidents seem to happen.
Just my thoughts.
I'll get the popcorn :-)

Your second point is still in the rules.

Rule 2 was always the case at SJ as well. I waited until last the other week as I'd taken someone off who took a while to get back on track. We also told guys at the back to stay on line when being lapped, and the faster driver would do the work to pass....not sure why I'm talking about the slower guys as if it wasn't me.

I justify this because they are usually 5 seconds a lap quicker than me and we are both racing for position. Wrighty couldn’t catch me anyway. It is a valid point. Overtakes need to be safe. The driver being overtaken should stick to the racing line, avoiding changes in direction, unless they clearly communicate otherwise. If a faster driver has crashed, then you are racing for position so do not give up your place, unless you are being shown blue flags, then do so in a safe place. The other points about contact are still valid. I now a few people suffered from this on Friday night. We need to give people room to stay on track. I watched a replay of race 2, where I was assisted off the track. I managed to rejoin in a place I thought was safe, trying to avoid the trees whilst being on the sand. I was on the outside of the track, so there was plenty of space inside. Having watched the replay, I may have caused Andy to alter his line, and then spin under braking. I could not alert the driver who hit me off the track, as I did not know who it was (no names visible in VR). Andy didn’t tell me I had caused an issue, so I carried on. This would not have happened if the driver on my inside have given me room and not driven into me. It is something we need to be careful about, as we have a good group racing, but we seem to be letting our standards slip, slightly. I don’t want to go back to the draconian days of old, where races were reviewed and penalties were applied. We should be able to self regulate better.
