I've updated my car painting guide to version 1.2 that now includes steps on creating a default Alpha channel. Also, an attached guide on how to add your painted car into rFactor.

Does anybody have a link to a legal, but free version of Photoshop CS2?

I've got it somewhere. I'll dig it out.

I am having issues with the Alpha channel on the zcars mini. I masked out a couple of areas (car number and wheel arches) and filled them with black in the alpha channel expecting them to be matt in the finished car. They seem to be just as glossy as the rest of the car. In fact, the only part that doesn't seem to be full gloss is the rear numberplate. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Also, whats with the extra4.dds and extra7.dds files? They seem to be identical to the window.dds file in all the provided cars.

The alpha channel does seem a bit glossy on this model. I haven't played massively with it, I only created one but I set it to a dark grey.
Thev extra files do seem to be copies of the windows.
