Decided to download Win10 yesterday as the free upgrade finishes end of this month, but having a bit of a mare (I know unusual for me ). Anyway, after downloading Win10 it tells me I have to remove a certain app called hotspot shield, which I can't seem to do. It did not appear in my list of programmes to un install at first, so after googling it I have followed several steps even downloading and uninstalling it, but still it says I can't install new Win10 till I've manually deleted the app Any tips greatly appreciated

Thanks Si, visited most of those sites yesterday and tried most of the fixes but still no joy. I'll give it another go this afternoon.

I tried again earlier but used the app to find out if my system was compatible instead of the free win 10 prompt. It ticked all the boxes except display, "display is not compatible for Windows 10" I assume its due to me upgrading my graphics card a few year back when I upgraded the graphics card for triple screens? I installed a AMD Radeon HD 7800 series graphics card. Am I knackered for the upgrade? I don't want to touch my graphics card as everything works fine.

Okay Si thanks. Maybe give it another go later and try to get rid of this hotspot shield bug.

If you missed the free window to windows 10 and want to upgrade it is still free www.microsoft.com/en-gb/accessibility/windows10upgradeSo long as you admit to using assistive technology in win 10. I've just installed for my dad on one of his 3 ? laptops and it is the normal installation.

Still undecided Simon, Win 7 is working great on my PC but DX12 being Windows 10 only might force me to upgrade.

I've found Win 10 to be stable and easy to work in unlike 8which was a car crash of an OS.

MS decided it was time to run a patch update to Win 10 on my PC after I finished this evening.
Thought I would pop on for a bit of late night practice as the server was up and rFactor 2 now appears to require updating! Apparently needs a 7.5GB download!

But that wasn't that big?

Not for me all mods I have subscribed to and a full install of rF2? All settings lost plugins still there but again all settings lost?
The biggest pain is remapping all the buttons I have!

I am wondering if the downloading of a patch is the reason for my slow internet last night. There is no patch available today for me.

OK this is really odd I was looking though my tracks that I have installed and only the steam subscribed tracks are there? I open windows explorer navigate to the folder where they were befor and they are all there steam and non steam but not showing in game ? Check the folder address used in game and it has changed?
It turns out steam didn't think I had rFactor 2 installed and has reinstalled it only in a different folder? So I now have two installations of rF2.
I have 2 rF2 shortcuts on my desktop that I set up previously. One just opens rF2 and the other runs a bat file to open all the other associated programs I run with it like TeamSpeak etc as well as rF2. I use the first if I am running a car or track that's not on the server so offline and the other for when I am on the SiG server. I've been doing this for ages since rF2 started.
Now the bat file runs the old installation and the offline short cut has changed to the new installation?
At least I can find all my settings now!
