Really frustrating after getting myself eventually up and running I am getting massive stuttering in game. Ctrl + C shows it's my GPU maxing out. I am running a 1070ti which I though would be good enough to run on low settings? Until my recent break it was working fine so I am assuming it is due to an update?
Any hints or tips that may help would be appreciated as at them minute I have a 5-10sec stutter once every minute to 15 mins so can't race for the time being:(
Settings just about all down to low, replays off, post settings off.
Running triple screens, track ir and none of the plugins S397 are suggesting are a problem.
I have project lasso running to keep focus on rf2 and a couple of third party button mapping tools to help map the button boxes. as well as the DDW software.
CPU isn't a problem according to the logs its GPU related?

So in steps, what I have done and can remember.
Graphics Driver: Update it to the latest version.
rF2 Video Resolution: Check correct video resolution If VR - Too low = blurry text. Mine is 1920 x 1080 Non VR - Set to native screen resolution Anti Aliasing = 4 or higher (turn off if you really want to save on stuff) Post Processing = Low FXAA = Off
SteamVR For VR stuff only Set Application % thingy
In Game Shadows = Low Road Reflection = Low (or off) Environment Reflection = Low (or off)
Player.json (Open when rF2 is not running) Rear view mirror render distance search for "Rearview_Back_Clip " the number is the render distance in meters (0 is no limit) (I have this set to 100. I did try 30 but it was too low and then 50. Finally I'm testing 100)
Lowering details of cars in garage search for "Garage Detail" , set it to 0.01
Reducing number of headlight in effect search for " "Max Headlights":256, " I have this set to 20 (change 256 to 20) plenty enough and saves fps

and if this is just at Zandvoort, then I can see why. There's a lot of stuff modelled in this 3rd party track. I think turning track side detail down may be needed for me in this case.

Cheers Si I’ll run through those later in the week. It’s odd as Ctrl C gives me the GPU ok for several laps then slow motion freeze / stuttering for 10 secs or so then fine for 5 - 15 mins and repeat?
Different part of the track and happened with 4 different cars across 3 tracks ?

Anything to do with the rf2 video settings where it lets you pick window, full , or the other one.. which I can’t remember! My card isn’t a a 1070 but I think it’s meant to be the AMD equivalent so like you say should be okay still.

Has this been sorted?
If not, have you got replays enabled, have had issues in the past with replays being saved to HD causing stutters in game. Used to happen on Race 07.
May be worth turning off, think I've always had off ever since.

You tried it with TrackIR off Scoops, found a post from a guy that solved stutter by turning it off.

I’ll try with Track IR off when I get a chance. At the minute work has me flying to Newcastle from Southampton Mon to Wed and starting to go to London on other days so getting home late even when I get home so have limited time to try. May give it a go on Friday but probably best to start me at the a k of the grid and see how it goes?

In these cars you'll only do a couple of laps, so you can then work on the frame rate while Wrighty finishes

You may have to turn your motion down a little Simon, it’s a rather bumpy track . Also, getting it wrong with motion, direct drive wheel and VR is not a pleasant experience. Especially when your somersaulting through the air trying to hold onto your wheel whilst getting chucked around in your chair .

Spent most of this evening trying to sort out the stutter with still no joy.
Startup and run a couple of laps fine with decent FPS and the it stalls for 5 - 10 secs where it seems like I’m in a time warp with everything else happening at a different speed around me. Then clears and I’m fine again. If it happens at a corner I’m stuffed or if any car is near me it will end up in tears.
All plugins off, everything low, no replays gpu drivers all up to date.
It’s odd as normal running is fine and then rubbish. It’s as if something is filling up and then bottle necks, empties and then all good again.
I’m pondering a fresh install ?

When did you last reboot your router? I get similar stuttering during any conf call or gaming if I leave my BT Homehub on for too long. It just may not be PC related.
