Have posted about this on the Discord chat, but though I'd add it here. This prog is a must have for anyone using VR through Steam, it adds a frame rate counter in the HMD. This is so useful for gettings settings right, when you are trying to balance visuals against frame rate. Only a couple of quid or so, and so little hit to performance, though if you are bothered, use it during tweaking, then don't enable it when racing. store.steampowered.com/app/908520/fpsVR/

Do you have to use controllers to adjust settings?

Do you have to use controllers to adjust settings? No, I think its right click on the icon in the task bar that calls up a settings screen.
I have minimal info showing, SS, Frame rate, I think it shows batter for controllers if used, it shows time which is dead useful, as you lose track with HMD on.

I'd picked this up. As it is cheap. I'll test some stuff out later, to see if I can get rF2 adjusted for a decent framerate with around 20 AI. That way I can safely race without having to think if it's bandwidth or FPS that is causing any issues.

So I've turned some bits down. Did an AI test with 19 cars. I get a drop to around 45FPS when it's heavy, at the start but it's bearable until everyone spreads out. This is of course day (sunny) conditions. The GPU T&U number. I'm assuming U is for Utilisation. The U part sometimes hits 100% at points. So I'm assuming that this is the system bottleneck?

Any help from you computer geeks appreciated John, you can mail me later and let me know the answer Presently running an i7 7700 and a GTX1080 turbo OC, 16RAM and using a Vive Pro, but struggled tonight with very low FPS in rF2. Other guys on the server with lower systems had no issues. Temp using my Steam FPSVR app gave GPU 61 degree and CPU 52 degrees, but FPS were as low as 41 (sometime briefly below 35) whilst driving past pits. Also the graph showing the CPU performance was turning completely orange whereas the GPU mainly stayed green. Both my Steam and rF2 super sampling were set at 100% and all in game video settings turned down to low, or off.

I do find rF2 a challenge to optimise. Mainly due to differing performance depending on how each track / vehicle mod is made. Andy had done great suggestions before for player.ini changes, that I can't remember.
I think 1 definitive guide will probably be needed to help us go through and compare what we have set and what tweaks we can do. If I get time I'll start a thread up on VR FPS optimisation.

Naa, John rang me and helped . Was pretty crap though and didnât make a lot of sense when others (with lesser systems) werenât suffering . Last race showed my fpsVR showing 45 throughout, with an average frame rate of 44.8

I was think the same. I did inform him of FPS,GPU, CPU, i7, FPSVR, 16RAM and stuff like that. Gone are the days where it was âswitch it off and onâ. Tony, can you help me...I built a 3D printer last year, that was easy and I enjoyed it. I printed stuff from the test software that came with it but f*#k me, Iâve no idea what to do with it now

Itâs full of stuff you will never need but you occasional hit something helpful. Iâve printed button boxes and brackets to hold tuff on the sim rig. Cable clips etc are useful with the 80 20 rig. There are lots of plans for diy wheel rims and as Wrighty says I printed all the bits needed for the motion system. I did think about doing a SiG Racing trophy but havenât got round to it and TBH my daughter is much better but then she is doing a product design degree đđ» Father (Pharmacist) Mother ( Pharmacist) Brother ( Vet) ...... I think sheâs adopted đ€Ł

Iâve looked at Thingiverse and tried to print a Caterham 7 key ring. It printed but it was, like a thick spiders web, lacking in volume. It was as though the speed was to fast or the feed was to slow. Iâve played about with it to no avail, donât really know what Iâm doing. Kenny is doing a bit of model making and heâs done some research on âstuffâ so when lockdown is a little more relaxed we are going to have a go.
