So I thought I'd share some performance info and my settings as I have an older card, but it checks out. Radeon R9 Fury
Steam VR: Video resolution 100% Motion Smooting - Force Always On AMS2 per application Super Sampling set to 150%
In Game: Resolution - 1280x720 60Hz (This makes a huge difference) Texture Resolution - Medium Texture Filtering - Anisotropic X2 MSAA - Low Reflections - Low Environment Map - Low Car Detail - High Track Detail - Medium Shadow Detail - Off Motion Blur - Off Detailed Grass - Low Particle Level - Low Particle Density - Low
In Game VR SS Setting - 1.0
XML File change: (at the bottom of the file you change these values) graphicsconfigopenvrdx11.xml (My Documents/Automobilista 2) <prop name="SharpeningStrength" sharpeningstrength="1.600000" /> <prop name="SharpeningClamp" sharpeningclamp="0.045000" /> <prop name="OffsetBias" offsetbias="1.000000" />
I now get 60fps unless I hit heavy fog and rain where it's more 50fps. But weirdly that's playable and will be rare. I could try to up some other in game settings now, as really the big performance issue is in-game resolution. However, I have found that the above settings gives me something that is clear and performs well for me. I may try a lower in game resolution and up maybe the textures and stuff like that, but this is a good base to start for me.
Edit: Changed the resolution from 1280x1024 to 1280x720. This is because different tracks have different performance. You don't really notice much difference between the resolutions. Well, I certainly don't.

Super sampling at 150%? I run my card at 120% IIRC.

Hopefully get on tonight, unfortunately I’ve spent most of the day getting my rig ready (continued from yesterday) for my new pedals as they should arrive middle of this week I hear people say I thought Aluminium Profile was easy to adjust? . Problem is, I’ve had to adjust my loft ladders (not a small job) to allow me to move the entire rig back. New pedals will take up more room at the front so this will allow me to adjust as required.

Well my first impression "£25 desktop icon" . Sent bloody ages (not prepared to waste anymore time) trying to calibrate the wheel, but without success I gave up. Think I tried every permeation there was, but all seemed to give exactly the same amount of rotation, i.e. one and a half turns of my wheel represented a quarter of a turn in game . This was only just the start, as previously it took me ages to get my Simexperience programme (chair) to start the game, never mind in VR mode. After a little Google I went in to the exe. file and changed it to Win 7 (from Win8) and this then started it. Waste of time though as unfortunately the chair doesn't respond . Lastly, I had absolutely no FF from my wheel, so I binned it in a huff . Probably need to get on with one of you techie guys in the future, that way I can can have someone hold my hand through this nasty process

Think I tried them all Geoff . Wheel all the way anti clockwise (I always have my Simucube set at 900 degrees) think it was twice round to the left, then it said move the wheel back so it is 90 degrees, nope that didn’t work. Then I moved it all the way left, followed by back all the way right, nope didn’t work. Then all the way left and as I came back the other way I watched the numbers and stopped when it read 900, nope didn’t work, in fact the wheel rotated exactly the same degrees no matter what I did. I’m sure there’s a simple solution, but after everything else I didn’t have the patience to waste more of my life

I had trouble setting the wheel up initially. Have you assigned steering first?
I had to wind on to full lock and then as if i had a tank slapper immediately turn back to 90 degrees short of centre. It than had my wheel sorted. Still took me 4 attempts to get it to pick it up this way but it did work.
Lots of users online with DDW & Simcube software so it does work just need to get you sorted and in game.
This may have changed as there have been a few updates since this was posted but this was what I followed.
"Any DD-wheel should work in AMS2 using the "Custom" wheel configuration (Not to be confused with "Custom FFB Flavor").
SimuCube1 / SimuCube2 Tips (may be applicable to any DD)
Before setting up controller in AMS2:
1) Reduce Power Output of DD-system for axis-assignment and calibration process. Warning: Strong constant force may be applied during the controller setup process. Alternatively, It should also be possible to enable the e-stop for safer axis assignment. 2) Reduce FFB Gain in AMS2 (to about 25%).
Steering-Axis Assignment: Rotate wheel to full-lock, then reverse. Axis should then register. Using a soft touch at the stops may help the detection process.
Steering Calibration: Rotate wheel to the left to 100% of travel (including stop-ramp zone), then to 90-degrees. Be precise in reaching the hardware’s actual rotation setting."

I’m always fascinated by this type of animation and would love to have the skills to produce something like this

Don't give up Wrighty. You bought a fancy wheel that's not off the shelf. It'll take some tweaking. You'll get there Hopefully my graphics settings post will help anyone who is struggling on frame rates.

Well, I've bought it and installed it. Waiting to hear how Wrighty gets on before starting the 2 hour countdown F1 2019 too while it's on sale at £13.50. Now, do I splurge £4.67 on Project Cars 1 too as I remember that its visual modelling of the Caterham was superb?

The reason I’m asking is because there is a thread on Blatchat discussing Project Cars 2.

I already have PC2 but I don't think there are any Caterhams in it apart from the SP/300R prototype thing.
